Would you like to educate chamber musicians of the future at the highest level of artistry? The Royal College of Music in Stockholm is looking for a Professor of Chamber Music with qualifications in artistic and pedagogical excellency and who will contribute to the development of chamber music within higher education. Do you have extensive experience of leading and organising artistic activities, and a strong interest in developing music life, both on a national level as well as an international level?

The faculty of Classical Music at KMH is home for the Chamber music program, and the teaching takes place at Edsberg Manor, where 25 students in piano, violin, viola and cello study at undergraduate and advanced degree programs. The studies have a special focus on chamber music in the smaller form, involving close collaboration with the other colleagues. The employment begins at the start of the Fall semester 2026 or according to individual agreement. This is a permanent position and comprises 50% of full time. Welcome to send your application.

Description of the Subject Area
Chamber music is a central part of the programs at Campus Edsberg. Teaching is conducted thematically, where content in, for example, music history and music theory is guided by the current repertoire within the field of chamber music. This helps create a deeper understanding of the music itself and its context, as well as fostering a sense of community within the student group.

Tasks

• Plan and develop the field of chamber music.
• Teach and supervise chamber music at all educational levels. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and/or English.
• Plan the repertoire and musically lead the Edsberg Chamber Orchestra.
• Develop and profile the chamber music education at KMH in collaboration with colleagues.
• Hold entrance examinations and admit students to the program, in collaboration with colleagues.
• Conduct personal research/professional development.
• Represent the subject area and KMH in the current music life and the surrounding community.
• Participate in KMH's and the faculty's internal work, such as faculty meetings and development projects.
• Administrative tasks and leadership positions at KMH may occur.

Eligibility requirements and other requirements
Those eligible to be employed as a professor in artistic practice are those who have demonstrated both artistic and pedagogical skill (Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance). According to KMH's employment regulations, eligibility regarding artistic skill must have been demonstrated through a doctoral degree or equivalent, or artistic practice at a national and international high level, as well as a good ability to develop and lead high-quality artistic activities.

Eligibility regarding pedagogical skill must have been demonstrated through evaluated, well-documented teaching and/or supervision at undergraduate and advanced levels, and, where applicable, at the doctoral level, unless there are specific reasons to the contrary, as well as the ability to develop, lead, and conduct high-quality education.

In order to carry out the tasks of this position, the applicant must also have:

• Deep and broad knowledge of chamber music repertoire from all historical periods, as well as documented musical activity at an international level on one of the instruments represented at Edsberg (violin, viola, cello, or piano).
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Solid experience in leading and organizing artistic activities.
• A well-developed network within the national and international music scene.
