hela Sverige The research profile ?Energy Transition and Societal Processes? has an interdisciplinary character
with research in small-scale renewable energy technology and systems, energy efficient building
construction and forest resources. The profile includes at the moment three professors, four
associate professors, and nine other persons with doctoral degree and seven doctoral students.
Dalarna University has received funds from EU for increased cooperation with companies in
building and energy sectors in order to promote industrial growth within Dalarna. Within this
context, there will be a special effort to recruit two new professors, one of these in construction
with specialization in energy efficient building construction.
Profile
The professorship is a long-term full time position located at the School of Technology and
Business Studies in Borlänge (Sweden).
Scientific field
Construction with specialization in energy efficient building means in this context a broad
research field within construction of new and retrofit of existing buildings. An important starting
point is to envisage buildings as energy systems to unite technical performance of installations
and climatic shell with the residents? needs of energy comfort and activities, to give conditions
for a lower and more efficient use of energy. Energy efficiency also includes issues related to
integration of active systems with solar electricity and solar heat. It is important that the research
is closely linked to real world problems and that new knowledge is implemented into professional
practice. Of importance is also that the developments have a foundation in international research,
especially in the light of the EU building energy performance directive on near-zero-energy
buildings.
Duties
• ? Establish research in construction with specialization in energy efficient buildings.
• ? Contribute to the development of the research profile ?Energy Transition and Societal
Processes? with cooperation between the academic subjects that constitutes the profile
(Construction, Energy and Environmental Technology and Forest and Wood
Technology).
• ? Develop cooperation with other disciplines at Dalarna University and with research
groups at other universities in Sweden and abroad.
• ? Work actively to be granted externally funded research projects, with doctoral education
and with projects commissioned by external partners.
• ? Make a strategic development of the academic research in cooperation with building
industry in Dalarna.
• ? Participate in education at basic and advanced level as well as supervise doctoral students.
A specific responsibility will be to develop courses in energy effective building
construction.
• ? Conduct research within her/his specialization.
• ? Inform about research and development as well as participate in planning of research
projects.
• ? Work with duties of administrative character can occur.
