You will be working as Product Classification Engineer (PCE) and will be reporting to the Manager for Product Architecture. You will be classifying products, components, materials and technologies from the Division with respect to applicable control lists and will be maintaining the resulting data in a format appropriate for ABB's operational systems.

Your responsibilities
Reviewing existing product master data for determining the accuracy of the HTS (Harmonized Tariff System) numbers currently being used for customs/tariff compliance and the ECCNs (Export Control Classification Numbers) or other designations currently being used for export control purposes. Assigning HTS numbers to products or technologies that are incorrectly classified for customs/tariff purposes as well as to products or technologies that are not currently classified.
Assigning ECCNs or other applicable export control designations to products or technologies that are incorrectly classified for export purposes as well as to products or technologies that have not yet been classified.
Maintaining up-to-date product classification numbers and related data in a product library (initially, Amber Road's Global Product Master management tool) to be used by Local Division compliance managers and logistics staff in a consistent manner with regulatory requirements and ABB Product Master Data standards.
Advising and training ABB colleagues regarding product classifications.
Working with senior company compliance managers, establishing and personally implementing standards and procedures for the ongoing management of trade-related product classifications. Undertaking assignment on a full-time basis or in conjunction with other responsibilities depending on the needs and resources of a given Product Group.

Your background
University degree in any discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
Understanding of Division's portfolio of products and technologies.
Strong general analytical skills, including the ability to apply regulatory concepts and definitions as well as ABB classification strategies to the case-by-case determination of product classifications.
Understanding the technical specifications, performance characteristics and descriptions of manufacturing materials.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
