At Purchasing Engine, EMS and Exhaust we are responsible for managing Cylinder Heads, Cylinder Blocks, Oil systems, Valve trains, Camshafts, Crankshafts, Engine Management System (electronics and software), turbo, supercharger, EGR, hot end exhaust etc. We purchase materials to advanced projects, new projects and running production for all Volvo Cars Engine and Vehicle manufacturing plants. The section is divided into two groups; Base engine and Dressed engine.
We are now looking to fill a temporary position (until February 15th 2017) as a Product Buyer. As a Product Buyer it is important having a good holistic understanding, strategic view and to proactively develop and improve the supplier base within a cross functional team. The job will also require an ability to solve problems in a structured manner and identify opportunities for improvement. This position offers interesting opportunities to work with global suppliers in a fast-paced environment with high turnover. Some travel will be required in this position.
Main responsibilities
• Establish agreements with suppliers such as "Sourcing Agreement", "Commercial and Program Agreement", and having the overall perspective for the commodity
• Working with cost reduction on a cross functional basis, responsible for supplier annual commercial reductions
• Issuing purchase orders/update prices in SI+
• Negotiate technical changes (QOP process)
• Reduce total cost
• Work in close cooperation with engineering and other stakeholders to meet the project targets for cost and timing
• Conducting request for quotations and negotiate commercial and legal agreements
• Create and maintain commercial relations with suppliers and stakeholders
• Ensure purchasing processes are followed and enhanced
• Develop commercial opportunities within the supply chain
• Establish action plans on supplier-specific issues, when necessary
Required qualifications
• Commercial or technical university degree or equivalent
• Negotiation and commercial experience
• Computer skills (MS Office) are required, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Technical knowledge/experience/interest is an advantage
• Volvo Cars purchasing experience and preferably also in SI+ is considered meritorious
• Good English written and spoken
• Driver license B
