Your future work assignments
The Principal research engineer will work as a researcher in a project on the impact of nuclear architecture on chromatin organization, telomere metabolism and gene expression. Spatial positioning of the chromosomes in the cell nucleus is highly regulated and can rapidly change during differentiation, senescence, and, in general, stress response. We will determine how the pathways regulating chromatin mobility can influence the spatial genome organization, and consequently gene expression, in order to determine whether drugs affecting mobility can also mitigate or revert pathological transcriptional patterns. To this end, we will investigate the stress-induced alterations in chromosome positions, telomere mobility, and transcription profiles in cells affected in chromatin mobility.
Your qualifications
The position requires a doctorate in relevant research areas such molecular biology, genetics, or related subjects, or an equivalent degree from a foreign university.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in genetics, RNA metabolism, Telomeres metabolism, senescence. Expertise in RNA purification, quantitative PCR, automated imaging analysis, data processing as well as Microsoft Excel VBA coding is highly recommended. Applicants with experience in setting up a new laboratory and deal with ordering are encouraged to apply.
Form of employment
The principal research engineer is appointed until further notice, but for no longer than one years.
Starting date
December 1 2017 until November 30 2018.
