The Department of Dental Medicine in Huddinge focuses on the education of dentists and dental hygienists. In addition, we perform research, dental specialization training and provide patient care by specialist dentists.
Karolinska Institutet and the rest of Scandinavia have been world leaders in dentistry for decades.

Division
This position is available in the group of Associate Professor Tulay Yucel-Lindberg at the Department of Dental Medicine, division of periodontology.

In our research group we focus on the molecular mechanisms, host gene expression and microbial prevalence, and biomarkers underlying the pathogenesis of the chronic inflammatory disease periodontitis as well as its relationship with associated chronic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Duties
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our group. The work will primarily focus on laboratory work including cell culturing, molecular biological techniques such as qPCR, flow cytometry, Luminex/ELISA and histology/immunohistochemistry. The work involves participation in different ongoing research projects and responsibilities to design and conduct experimental research, analyze and interpret the results and to write scientific articles in English.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.

• Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)
