at the Department of Psychology. Closing date: 30 March 2019.

The Department of Psychology is a part of the Faculty for Social Sciences and is one of the largest departments at Stockholm University. Our courses span all levels from undergraduate to PhD and the department comprises over 160 members of staff. The department is divided into six research areas, including the Division of Perception and Psychophysics, which is also called the Gösta Ekman Laboratory. The postdoctoral position is part of a research grant from the Swedish Foundation for the Humanities and Social Sciences to the research program Knowledge resistance: Causes, consequences and cures.

Project description
The research program Knowledge resistance: Causes, consequences and cures aims to understand the nature of and mechanisms behind knowledge resistance, as well as finding ways to counter it. The program is interdisciplinary, bringing together researchers from psychology, philosophy, political science and media research. The current postdoc position will be based in psychology, but the research will be conducted in close contact with the other disciplines in the program. The research will be accomplished through a combination of experimental and field psychological studies with collection and analysis of quantitative behavioral data, as well as studies using existing databases (e.g. World Value Survey) and Big data.

Main responsibilities
The postdoc will conduct research on the mechanisms behind, and cures to knowledge resistance including studies on cognitive and social psychological factors as well as factors at the macro level (information flow and overall political tendencies in the society).

Over the course of the postdoctoral appointment, the candidate will plan research, collect and analyse data, and write and publish research articles together with project collaborators. Within the project, international collaborations are encouraged, and the postdoc is expected to present their work at national and international research conferences.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are eligible for a position as postdoctoral fellow if he or she has a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country in psychology, cognitive science, political science, or a related discipline.

Assessment criteria
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.

In the appointment process, particular weight will be given to research proficiency. Candidates should be analytically and statistically proficient, be skilled in scientific writing and communication, and excellent English language skills are required. The candidate should be flexible, communicative and collaborative. Independence and strong motivation are expected throughout the project. It is considered favorable if the candidate has documented experience in the field of cognitive- and social psychological factors related to motivated cognition, in experimental psychology and in methods using Big data.
