Postdoctoral fellow in Rheumatology

The project aims to identify biomarkers that predict the onset of and prognosis in rheumatic
diseases, especially rheumatoid arthritis.

Specific subject description
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic joint disease that affects approximately 0.5-1 % of our
population. Currently it is difficult to predict onset of disease and it is also difficult to predict
treatment response and disease progression in manifest disease. In this project we will investigate
whether reactivity against various forms of articular cartilage can be used as a biomarker for
these purposes.
Job assignments
• Collection of materials from healthy subjects and patients according to GCP.
• Independently develop methods and analyze material from patients and healthy individuals
using techniques like ELISA, flow cytometry, PCR and other molecular biology techniques, cell
culture, immunohistochemistry and image -stream.
• Writing applications for ethics review, applications for funding and articles.
Eligibility
To qualify as a postdoctoral researcher the applicant should hold a PhD in a relevant subject.
Since postdoctoral constitutes a qualifying appointment for junior researchers, we aim to target
those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years from the application deadline.

Motivated individual with verified knowledge of the above mentioned procedures
Broad knowledge in immunology and molecular biology
Experience in clinical studies and handling of human biomaterials and demonstrated knowledge
of GCP is a merit
Earlier proven ability to design and implement own projects
Good ability to cooperate
