The Department of Molecular Sciences, SLU, Uppsala approximately 110 employees and together with two other departments forms an inspiring research environment at the BioCenter at the Ultuna campus in Uppsala. We are looking for a post doc for our ongoing research project on microbiological monitoring of biogas plants. The main task of the project is to further develop molecular microbiological methods for analysis of biogas processes with special focus on acetogens and methanogens. An important part of the project is to further develop the Acetobas database (
https://acetobase.molbio.slu.se) and develop a similar concept for methanogens. The work includes experimental experiments with DNA / RNA based sequencing and a large part of bioinformatics data analysis. The project will be carried out at the Department of Molecular Sciences at SLU in collaboration with biogas plants.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in biology / microbiology and documented competence in microbiology, molecular biology, bioinformatics and anaerobic cultivation techniques. Skills related to the characterization of complex microbial communities and construction of sequence databases is an advantage. Good ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is expected. Since the employment as a postdoctoral fellow represents a qualification employment for junior researchers, we primarily aim at those who have a doctorate who is not older than three years.
