Role Description
This unique opportunity allows the post-doctoral fellow to focus on a specific project which combines different methodologies including a) measuring alterations of circadian rhythms in tgDISC1 rats using telemetry EEG recordings; b) measuring electrophysiological consequences of DISC1 aggregates on cortico-striatal communication in tgDISC1 rats via extracellular local field potential (LFP)/units recordings; and c) measuring changes of striatal dopamine receptors in tgDISC1 rats using PET imaging. By combining these methodologies we hope to better understand how DISC1 aggregation impacts neurophysiological consequences in brain, linking deficits in protein homeostasis to that of phenotypes associated with psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.
