research record and long lasting traditions has acquired a very special place in
Scandinavian mathematics. The department consists of two divisions: mathematics
and mathematical statistics. Professors and lecturers working at the division of
mathematics possess competence in different areas of mathematics ranging from
algebra, geometry and analysis to mathematical logic and combinatorics.
Dina arbetsuppgifterPostdoctoral position in mathematics with focus on Orthogonal polynomials and
potential theory
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow is expected to conduct research and may, to some
extent, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The candidate must be able
to collaborate with researchers already employed at the division. It is important
that the applicant already before the application deadline establishes contact with
Professor Boris Shapiro and discusses the research program.
Utbildning och erfarenhetA Postdoctoral Research Fellow is employed foremost in order to perform research
and should have a doctoral degree. The degree should be obtained before the
starting date and at most three years before the deadline for application. In case of special reasons the doctoral degree could have been obtained earlier. Such
reasons are leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical service, trade union service
or other similar circumstances. In the appointment process special weight will
be given to scientific proficiency. Weight will also be given to the proposed
research program and its connection to research at the department. The position is
directed towards research in orthogonal polynomials, potential theory and related
areas of mathematics. The application may be written in English or Swedish and
should contain 1) CV (showing date of birth, when and where PhD was awarded,
employment record) 2) List of publications 3) Names of three referees, with emailaddresses.
The referees should submit, by 2015-05-15 letters of recommendation;
each letter must include, in the e-mail subject field, the ref.no. SU FV-1089-15

The employment is full time and for 1 year with possibility of a second year. Prolongation beyond the second year might be possible only due to special reasons. Starting date is 2015-08-01 or by appointment.
