Pharmaceutical Sciences is a CMC organisation working in the Early Portfolio and accountable for the design and development of synthetic routes, preclinical and phase I/II formulations, encompassing both small molecules and new modalities, across the whole range of AstraZeneca 's therapeutic areas.
We are now looking for a dedicated and highly motivated Portfolio Project Manager supporting PharmSci in all three TA areas. You can be based in one of our dynamic R&D sites in Gothenburg, Sweden or Cambridge, Macclesfield, UK.
What you'll do
As Portfolio Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting among others project teams, Project Leaders and TA Heads of all three TA areas (CVRM, Oncology and R&I) to deliver upon their project and financial targets through excellence in resource management and continuous control of project plans and forecasts. The manager will ensure customer needs and trust of the Project Plan, Forecast and that related information is maintained at all times. He/she will engage with key functions in Pharmaceutical Sciences, PT&D and BioPharm resource council and where appropriate partnering companies.
In this role you will also:

Develop and maintain process and technology required to effectively a portfolio of projects
*
Act as a source of knowledge in area of expertise, defining, communicating and implementing project management strategy
*
Be responsible for ensuring scientific projects are delivered to time, quality, budget, project standards, company quality standards, and align with AstraZeneca's strategy
*
Manage project organisation ensuring plans are optimal and meet overall goals of Project, Change, Business Improvement and Strategy Management
*
Introduce new ways of planning projects electronically through use of current systems and resources
*
Be accountable for specialised research to deliver new proposals, co-ordinating delivery of best options or working models to enhance the effectiveness of Scientific Project Management contributions on a regional level
*
Keep own knowledge of best practices and new relevant developments up to date
*
Lead and implement globally agreed Scientific Project Management and Clinical Development strategies including process and technology related to the function
Essential for the role
We believe that you are highly organized and are able to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Furthermore, you possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as analytical skills. You have a good knowledge of information management as a discipline and an understanding of tools available and the implementation of information management strategies.

BA/BS in science or engineering discipline or equivalent technical work experience is required
*
High level knowledge of the overall pharmaceutical drug development process , including stages of development and role of different functional areas.
*
Experience in working on a cross functional team in a matrix organization.
*
Knowledge of project management as a discipline including the ability to create, coordinate, and maintain an integrated product plan and to control or respond to changes in strategy and scope.
*
Preferred experience in use of enterprise-wide pharmaceutical project management software solutions, including skills in critical path analysis - MS Project and/or Planisware
*
Professional, dedicated, and detail-orientated and have the flexibility to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred requirement
*
Understanding of financial and resource planning systems and processes and ability to coordinate project-level budget/resource estimates and manage actuals vs. plan.
