hela Sverige Are you interested in understanding degradation and corrosion mechanisms of coated metals using advanced characterisation methods and analytical techniques? Are you interested in studying coating properties and how they are altered after exposure to accelerated tests and field exposure? Do you enjoy working both with more fundamental research and more industrially linked challenges in Swedish and international industry and society? Do you see it as motivating to work in a multi-disciplinary team in cooperation with industrial partners and the university? If so, we have a great opportunity to offer.
RISE is the Swedish Research Institute and innovation partner. In international collaboration with industry, academia and the public sector, we ensure the competitiveness of the business community and contribute to a sustainable society. Our 2,800 employees support and promote all manner of innovative processes. RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute that offers unique expertise and about 100 testbeds and demonstration facilities, instrumental in future-proofing technologies, products and services.
www.ri.seRISE KIMAB offers an attractive workplace as one of Europe's leading corrosion research players with the mission to create Swedish industrial benefit through company-wide research. We are located in Kista north of Stockholm where we have large modern premises. In France, we have a wholly owned subsidiary with 45 employees focused on corrosion research. We are part of the RISE research group.
KTH is one of Europe's leading technical and engineering universities and Sweden's largest technical research and learning institution. The Department of Chemistry is one of the scientifically most cited departments at the Royal Institute of Technology and belongs to the School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health. The Division of Surface and Corrosion Science has almost 50 people working in an interdisciplinary area between surface chemistry, corrosion, tribology and biotechnology.
About the position
You will be employed at RISE KIMAB in Kista and will be doctoral student at the division of Surface and Corrosion Science at the Department of Chemistry at KTH in Stockholm. Your doctoral work will include everything from participation in project planning, designing and planning experimental investigations, perform experiments and interpret the findings. Advanced and state-of-the-art characterization methods of coatings on local level will be used to provide better understanding of coating degradation and to develop knowledge of how chemical changes are related to mechanical alterations on the micro-meter and sub-micrometer scale.
The work also includes exposures of materials in various accelerated and field tests, evaluation and material characterisation. You will work closely with the university and the industrial partner in the project, SSAB. Parallel to your doctoral project a smaller part of your time will also devoted to work in other projects at RISE KIMAB, often in close collaboration with the industry. After graduating you will be given an independent role while being part of a research team involving tight collaboration with your colleagues and industrial partners.
