To meet the demands of higher data rates, greater security, and improved energy efficiency means that system optimizations must be conducted across all the layers from analog- and digital circuit design to system architecture and software. In addition, as more and more compute capabilities are moving to the edge, optimizations to expend less power need a cross-layer approach. To this end, Chalmers - Lund Advanced Semiconductor System Design Center (classIC) is a newly started major research initiative aiming at advancing semiconductor system design through an interdisciplinary approach to take system performance and power to an entirely new level.
Driven by a challenging application - Wearable Extended Reality - classIC will engage in three research tracks linked together by the overall design objective to take energy efficiency, scalability and security and resilience to a new level:
• High-level system modelling, simulation and design
• High-performance architectures and blocks
• Transceivers for high data rates
We are now seeking candidates for 5 classIC PhD student positions at Chalmers (5 more positions soon to be opened from Lund University). If you are interested in any of the areas above, you may find an interesting research project below:
• PhD 1: Signal Processing in Communication Systems
• PhD 2: Efficient Digital Implementation of Advanced Algorithms
• PhD 3: Management of Parallelism and Locality in Processing-Near Memory Nodes
• PhD 4: Energy Efficient and Digitally Enhanced CMOS Transmitters
• PhD 5: Adaptive GaN Transmitter Frontend for Increased Back-off Efficiency
