PhD position in the subject of Medical Science with an orientation towards Physiology
at the Department of Integrative Medical Biology
Description of the PhD project:
“The role of ion channels and ion transporters in neuronal signalling�
The project implies studies of neuronal signalling and of the fundamental roles that ion channels and ion transporters in the cellular membrane play for such signalling. These molecules also constitute central targets for a large number of therapeutical drugs and may upon dysfunction give rise to serious disease. The research group, in which the PhD student will be active, studies the function of central neurons with electrophysiological and optical methods, primarily the “patch clamp� technique and fluorescence microscopy.
Qualifications
A minimum of four years of university education, or three years of medical/ odontological university education or equivalent. Experience in electrophysiological techniques and/or fluorescence microscopy is of merit value, as is previous research experience in the field of neuroscience.

Salary/type of position
The salary is made up of a postgraduate student allowance (“utbildningsbidragâ€?) for the first two years and the salary successively increases according to a stipulated scale in the last two years of the PhD position (“doktorandtjänstâ€?).
