Project title
The impact of high-intensity, task specifik training combined with environmental enrichment in the late phase of stroke; a randomized controlled trial
Job assignments
It is described in several animal studies how recovery after brain injury has greater potential in an enriched environment. Although there is repeated research showing that functional improvement can occur many years after a stroke, most rehabilitation measures are mainly applied during the acute and subacute phase. The hypothesis of the study is that a rehabilitation program composed of high intensity, task-specific and goal-directed training in an enriched environment can improve the functional ability and activity level for individuals in a late phase after stroke. Additional aims are to assess the experience and meaning of participating in the rehabilitation program, and whether and how this will be perceived to have influenced the participants' daily life and occupational performance in general.
The project will also consist of analysis of individuals' gait- and movement-patterns evaluated with advanced gait analyses in a motor-laboratory, why knowledge and interest in this type of research is relevant.
Responsibilities will also include project management where coordination and planning of the various activities in the study will be of great importance.
Studies and experience of rehabilitation in the late stage after stroke is important to be able to coordinate and plan the project. Knowledge in neuroscience, neuroplasticity, enriched environment, movement analysis, leadership, qualitative and quantitative methods and RCTs will also be important.
PhD positions are financed mainly through education grants during the first two years and employment as doctoral students during the last two years and pertains to a doctoral degree.
