We are seeking a suitably qualified medical physicist for a friendly, supportive and enthusiastic working environment offering high-quality proton treatments in a national facility, the Skandion Clinic.

About Skandion Clinic
The Skandion Clinic, situated in Uppsala, is the first dedicated clinical facility in Scandinavia for highly advanced proton beam treatments. The clinic utilises some of the latest equipment for particle therapy and has been in operation since August 2015 treating patients with scanned proton beams in two treatment rooms.
The Skandion Clinic is owned and run by the Joint Commission of County Councils for Advanced Radiotherapy composed by the seven national regions with university hospitals in Sweden. Activities at the Skandion Clinic are conducted using a distributed competence model, which implies close collaboration between the Skandion Clinic and the university hospitals in Sweden.
The Skandion Clinic currently has employed one Chief Physicist and sex medical physicists. Several other medical physicists with permanent employment at the Swedish university hospitals come on a rotational basis to the proton clinic. Other personnel at the clinic include specialist and consultant radiation oncologists, radiotherapy technologists, specialist nurses and administrative personnel.
The Joint Commission of County Councils for Advanced Radiotherapy also runs a hotel, Hotel von Kraemer, providing accommodation for the patients undergoing treatment at the Skandion Clinic, but also open for the general public
Responsibilities and tasks
Responsibilities of the advertised position include, but are not limited to, quality assurance on all equipment, including the proton therapy system and any other equipment that requires daily, monthly or annual QA, patient specific QA, as well as supporting the clinical activities in radiation therapy by validating and preparing dose plans for patient specific QA, validating verification CTs for undergoing treatment, evaluating patient specific QA measurement.
Eligibility criteria
We work in close collaboration with the seven university hospitals in Sweden and attach great importance to abilities to cooperate and collaborate within the varied environment of our network, as well as with other professions.
Qualifications
Relevant medical physics education

Recommended
Practical experience on quality assurance programs or commissioning of clinical scanned beam proton therapy systems
Radiation or particle therapy experience
Certification as Swedish medical physicist
Research experience in medical physics

Work schedule: Shift-based with varying working hours, currently 8h between 07:00-20:30
