We seek ambitious, talented people in a range of fields who are excited about playing a part in the future of science in Europe. ESS is based in the university city Lund, Sweden and is a partnership of 13 European countries.
ESS is now looking for a Mechanical Engineer for the CSPEC instrument. The engineer will be a member of the Technical Projects Group, organised within the Neutron Scattering Systems (NSS) Division.
About the team
The NSS Division is responsible for managing the construction of the neutron beam instruments for the ESS. The Technical Projects Group, is responsible for managing the neutron beam instrument engineering effort, engineering integration, delivery of radiation shielding, delivery of electrical systems and infrastructure, as well as technical and design support to delivery projects such as choppers, detectors, sample environment and shutter systems. The ESS instruments are built in collaboration between ESS and its in-kind partners across Europe. The instrument CSPEC is a neutron time-of-flight instrument delivered through a collaboration between the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Laboratoire Léon Brillouin (LLB) and ESS. On behalf of the IK Partner FRM II we are now looking for a person who can deliver high quality mechanical design, ie modelling, drawings and installation, for the CSPEC instrument. The CSPEC engineer will be working in close collaboration with an international team of engineers and scientists that is responsible for the delivery of the instrument.
