Your role
As a material analysis engineer at Saab in Järfälla you will be challenged within a wide range of material analysis investigations related to our products within radar warning-, electronic jamming- and countermeasure systems. You will be involved in materials qualification and various of material testing, both internally in Järfälla but also together with other Saab sites.
The increased focus on wise and future-safe material selections will largely engage you to support our organization in phasing out hazardous substances. The work to eliminate or replace harmful materials will be performed within product development projects and in service-support contracts.
Good collaboration is a key to succeed in this important role. Your curiosity and interest in both people and technology is therefore highly valued. You will contribute with technical support to designers in systems design, electronics- and mechanical engineering. You will also be an important part of our in-house production flow such as purchasing, industrialization and quality questions. Communication skills and understanding of the business will help us grow in the right direction.
The main tasks are within the following areas:

Technical support to our engineering organization and development projects
*
Perform material investigations, plan and perform material testing and write technical reports
*
Collaboration within areas such as Quality, Purchasing, Industrialization and other Saab sites
*
Develop and maintain our material analysis laboratory
Your profile
Your ability to work together with other roles and competencies is of high importance. As a person, you have an analytical mindset with a holistic perspective. You are communicative, supportive and enjoy taking responsibility. Perserverence will sometimes be your greatest asset. The work is carried out at the absolute forefront of technology and we assume that you have a great interest and knowledge in the field of materials as well as previous experience from materials engineering or applied chemistry.
Required skills:
*
MSc degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent
*
3+ years previous experience as a Materials Engineer within applied chemistry
*
Work experience within different fields of material analysis methods
*
Knowledge about different types of chemical substances and/or polymers
*
Good collaboration skills
*
Good communication skills in English, verbal and written
Beyond the requirements above, it is desired that you have experience within these areas:
*
Knowledge and experience within the field of electronics design and manufacturing
*
Knowledge about different types of surface treatment methods such as painting and corrosion protection.
*
Previous experience from substitution of specific substances
*
Previous experience with technical support to supply chain and production

Business area Surveillance offers world-leading sensor technology in monitoring and decision support to protect against threats. The portfolio covers airborne, ground-based and naval radar, electronic warfare, C4I solutions, aviation systems and cyber security.
You will be part of the Electronic Warfare and Aircraft Systems, EWAS, business unit, which provides world class signal intelligence systems and self-protection systems for the next generation Gripen and the Globaleye. EWAS is a part of the Business Area Surveillance.
Materials Engineering is expanding and looking to increase within the Material Analysis group. The section is organized within the Hardware Engineering department. The department is responsible for the hardware development of our products and consist of around 100 co-workers. It is divided in seven sections with a wide range of competences and responsibilities; all from electronics to structural analysis. As the section is growing you will have the opportunity to shape and make our work effective. You are welcome with your passion and drive towards a better product development.
