Evaluation of novel Cutting-edge Technologies for efficient Environmental Molecular monitoring of Rare Species
Research subject: Biology with specialisation in ecology
Description:
The licentiate student will join a research project aimed at improving environmental detection of rare species such as endangered taxa, or invasive species, through the evaluation of novel molecular monitoring technologies. The project involves testing and benchmarking innovative sampling techniques and molecular detection tools, and assessing their sensitivity and efficiency in identifying low-abundance targets in complex environmental samples. Work will combine lab- and field-based sampling, molecular analysis, bioinformatics, and data interpretation.

Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a master's degree (or equivalent) in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field. Merits include experience in aquatic ecology, molecular biology, eDNA analysis, method development, and data analysis. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Relevant experiences and competences also include fieldwork and molecular laboratory techniques, as well as the possession of a B driving license valid for use in Sweden. The ideal candidate should demonstrate critical and creative thinking, strong good problem solving skills, and the ability to take own initiatives. Applicants must be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
