What you'll do
Right now, we have an exciting job opportunity for you in our dynamic Legal HQ team at Volvo Cars' global headquarters. This position involves supporting Volvo Cars in strategic matters and projects that have an impact on our growth strategy.
Our innovations and strategies are creating new business opportunities and require creative and proactive legal guidance. We are seeking a highly motivated and business-savvy lawyer, with contract and commercial legal experience, to join our diverse and international legal team as Legal HQ Lawyer. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on a varying and exciting workload, providing legal advice and support to the business on a range of legal matters. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other colleagues across the organization to identify legal issues and provide solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing sophisticated legal advice across a multitude of topics and matters connected to our HQ operations
* Working directly with key stakeholders from various functions to provide proactive and pragmatic support for business goals and strategic initiatives, adopting a business-partnering approach
* Identifying efficiencies and driving continuous improvements
* Proactively identifying relevant regulatory and legal developments, risks, and opportunities, and sharing within both the legal and business teams
* Managing external legal counsel in an efficient and cost-effective manner
* Working collaboratively within the Legal team and interacting closely with IP and Compliance & Ethics colleagues
* Providing training and legal awareness

This position will be based at our headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, but interaction and collaboration with colleagues at the company's offices and plants across the globe will be part of your daily work.
What you'll bring
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, collaborative, with high integrity, an interest in technology, and a pragmatic approach. We also want to work with skilled people of diverse backgrounds and with different perspectives. Qualifications include:
* 6+ years of experience as a lawyer with at least 4-5 years at a law firm, handling sophisticated matters, in-house experience is a plus
* Significant experience in handling various commercial legal matters in different areas
* Great analytical skills with a keen attention to detail, without losing sight of the big picture
* A collaborator with ability to work autonomously and contribute effectively to cross-functional teams
* A proactive and customer-oriented mindset, with the ability to provide high-quality legal support with limited supervision and often in a time-sensitive setting
* Creativity in dealing with new issues, and the ability to move projects forward by gaining needed support
* Comprehensive communication skills and ability to explain complex issues in a simple way to business partners and other stakeholders
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written
