The School of Humanities and Media Studies offers nationally competitive programmes and courses in the fields of media studies, languages, and humanities. Intercultural Studies is a research profile within the School that includes a number of different research areas as well a collaborative centre for intercultural development.
The English Department at Dalarna University offers courses in the fields of linguistics, literature, and didactics. We offer free-standing courses and also Teacher Education for current and future teachers in primary and lower secondary school (F-3, 4-6 and 7-9) and high school. We also offer courses in, for example, presentation technique and academic writing: these can be either free-standing or part of a programme. Since autumn 2015, we have taught campus-based preparatory courses in English for international students.
Position
We are currently seeking a lecturer in English for a 60 to 100 percent position. The position is temporary from September 1, 2018 to January 30, 2019. There may be an opportunity to extend the post for one further semester. The successful candidate will be based at Campus Falun.
Work Duties
The position will chiefly involve teaching of preparatory courses for international students. Work duties will also include certain administrative tasks and continuous involvement in the development of the subject.
Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment as lecturer, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 4, and in accordance with the Recruitment Procedures for Teachers at Dalarna University, the applicant must have:
• demonstrated teaching expertise
• MA in English, or equivalent academic competence, or other professional expertise that is deemed relevant to the subject content of the position and the work duties that form part of the position.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria for employment as a lecturer will be based on an overall qualitative assessment of teaching, academic and administrative expertise required for the applicant to be considered qualified for the position. The applicant should also be able to demonstrate the personal qualities that are required to carry out the duties for this position.
Other Qualifications
Required for the position is a sound ability to work with others, to show initiative, and to take a high level of responsibility.
