Lead Engineer - System Front Wheel Suspension

The Front Suspension group is a part of Active Safety and Chassis within Volvo Car's Research and Development division. The group is responsible for the development and maintenance of front wheel suspensions. Our mission is to develop wheel suspensions that enable premium level ride comfort, handling and road noise isolation. Kinematic packaging, durability and cost/weight efficiency are some of the challenges we face. We co-operate with a wide range of internal partners, such as Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Manufacturing engineering and others. Our supplier base is worldwide, from local Swedish to Chinese. The Front Suspension group consists of 15 engineers, mainly design engineers, complemented with a number of expert and support roles.

As a Lead Engineer you will be responsible for leading the development of front wheels suspensions from a technical system perspective. Execution is done by tight co-operation with the component design engineers, engineers from the various attribute areas and project leaders. Daily activities range from chairing alignment meetings with the team and partners to running task forces and management of system describing documentation.

Main responsibilities

• Manage the front wheel suspension from a technical system perspective
• Act as a technical team leader
• Be a central speaking partner towards many areas
• Act as an expert within wheel suspension area
• Solve technical problems

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field of engineering
• At least 5 years working experience within relevant area
• Proven team leader skills
• Fluent in English, spoken and written
• Experience from chassis and wheel suspension systems is meritorious
• Experience as a design engineer is meritorious
• 6-sigma Blue Belt or Black Belt certification is an asset
