The main responsibility for R&D is to contribute to the innovation process, comprising application, product and process development, within the Perstorp Group and also to support business in all types of customer relations. The Application Development department has now an opening for an experienced Laboratory Engineer focusing especially on polymer processing and application testing.
It is an exciting time with many interesting and challenging projects in the pipeline. Application Development is responsible for application development from the initial synthesis or processing work needed up to a tested and verified product in the relevant application area. Within the material field Perstorp develops several innovative polymer products and our focused areas are e.g. plasticizers, biodegradable plastics and polyurethane elastomers.
As a Laboratory Engineer in the Application Development group you will contribute in research and development activities of our existing and future applications, products and processes. Your main assignments will be to:
• Perform and/or manage application development activities, customer and technical support including synthesis or processing of polymers and related compounds in lab scale
• Evaluate new and existing products in relevant application areas with subsequent documentation and reporting
• To some extent handle, plan, solve problem and carry out tasks from given problem descriptions
• Participate in technical and methodological development of the department.
The position requires that you have a positive and curious attitude to new challenges, good strategic and independent thinking as well as coordination ability. What we expect from you is an open-minded attitude and a collaborative way of working striving for knowledge sharing with your colleagues. Goal orientation is vital and communication and networking skills are keys for success.
We believe you have a technical education corresponding to at least a B Sc or several years of experience as a laboratory engineer in a relevant field. We think you have a curious and open-minded attitude and a collaborative way of working. You also have to be service minded and to work in a quality conscious way showing safety concerns. Good communication skills, both verbally and written, in English is important since we work in a global environment. Experience from comparable laboratory work would be highly appreciated, especially from practical work related to polymer processing and evaluation of thermoplastic materials.
