The Intellectual Property Department has the global responsibility for all intellectual property matters of Volvo Car Corporation worldwide. As a dynamic part of Volvo Car Corporation, the Intellectual Property Department works in close cooperation with Research and Development, Strategic Product Planning, Marketing, Purchasing, and the Legal Department.

Job description

Retrieve and evaluate new inventions, based on patentability as well as business aspects
Preparation and prosecution of patent applications and contacts with outside counsel and patent offices
Manage the prosecution of a portfolio of cases and maintaining the same
Education and counselling to the VCC organization regarding IP matters
Support in third party agreements, threats and licensing issues
Patent clearance and freedom to operate analyses
Qualifications

Masters degree in engineering physics, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or related degree relevant for the automotive sector
Qualified European Patent Attorney and/or a national qualification, although partly qualified candidates may be considered.
At least five years experience in the patent field, acquired either in an industrial environment or in private practice.
Knowledge in engine, powertrain and/or hybrid technologies is a benefit.
Knowledge in design rights is a benefit.
Proficiency in Swedish and English is required, additional language skills is a benefit.

Have the ability to work effectively with individuals within and outside the team, on all levels of the company.
Have a hands-on, flexible and creative approach
Good cross-cultural understanding
Thriving in a fast-moving environment
The position is based in Gothenburg.
