The HW Platform Management Engineer position is organized in the Center of Excellence Electronics within the Propulsion & Controls division, which is responsible for the electronics (hardware and firmware) in our products such as I/O units and computer devices controlling the propulsion system and the train control and management system (TCMS) on the train.
Purpose of the job
Placed in Västerås you will work to ensure alignment between different hardware platforms, manage hardware standardization across product families and ensure alignment with Bombardier configuration management practices. The HW Platform Management Engineer supports our projects with analyses of compliance to norms, standards and laws. This role also includes component engineering tasks (interaction with and monitoring the performance of our electronics manufacturing services), suppliers, especially with respect to their component qualification criteria, also interaction with our component suppliers, soldering and assembly processes.
Key responsibilities:
• Proactive obsolescence management
• Provide the necessary information repositories for electronic component data, electronic product data and volume forecasting data
• Active management of a configuration management plan for the electronic product groups and the product subassembly structures, including naming conventions for hardware
• Provide hardware product know-how to key stakeholders from Projects, Engineering, -Supply Management and Quality
• Provide means for efficiency improvement regarding product data management and configuration management Actively monitor and report obsolescence on PCBA (electronic) components and affected hardware products to product owners
• Maintain the Approved Manufacturer?s List (AML) for all hardware products under CoE Electronics
• Have an open line communication with the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) and report any PCBA component related issues to the product owners
• Support the electronics development projects with PCBA component knowledge and reliability figures
• Apply and improve defined development processes and tools
• Maintaning of FST and DfE data
Support with: Component costs, Datasheets, PCBA component suggestions, Supplier selections and sourcing activities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor/ Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience working with PCB component engineering and/or hardware design
• good understanding of component data sheets and circuit diagrams
• experience of working with industrial electronics, preferably also from PCBA manufacturing
• capable of managing standardization across product families
• enjoy teamwork, share knowledge and motivated by problem solving
• strong communication skills, high drive, flexibility and creativity
• Knowledge of hardware and software integration
• Knowledge of system integration, especially inttegration of control electronics in railway vehicle applications
• You speak and write fluent English, Swedish is preferable
• Knowledge in REACH, RoHS, WEEE and FPC
