Overview
We are currently going though exciting changes within Regulatory Affairs and Product Safety at Essity which enable us to bring in additional passionate and business-driven colleagues around the world! Following Essity 's strategic move into healthcare and its acquisition of BSN medical, a leading medical device company, as well as the growing regulatory demand also in hygiene products, we have now created a dedicated, global Regulatory Affairs and Product Safety organization within our Business Unit Global Hygiene Category. The Global Hygiene Category leads Essity's hygiene brand portfolio and delivers brand development and innovation within the product areas of Incontinence Care, Baby Care, Feminine Care, Consumer Tissue and Hygiene Solutions.
To lead one of the teams in Gothenburg, we are looking for the globally acting Regulatory Affairs / Product Safety Director, General Product Safety, reporting to the Vice President Product Safety, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs. The position is located in Gothenburg.



Main Tasks
The job holder initiates, drives and develops programs, projects and processes to globally ensure regulatory compliance and product safety for Essity 's product categories which fall under general product safety provisions and/or further regulatory framework such as electronics, toys or products with food contact. Equally ensures that assigned products continuously meet high-end market needs for safe products.

Develops and drives the regulatory compliance strategy and underpins it with the required organizational setup, people skill set and financial budget. Leads a team of specialized professionals accordingly.
Establishes the required awareness and processes within the company to ensure regulatory compliance with relevant laws, regulations, guidelines and standards, including the monitoring and timely implementation of regulatory changes.
Ensures safety assessments of raw materials and finished products within innovation and change projects and during the whole product life cycle. Ensures fulfilment of regulatory framework for market authorization of products, as applicable.
Creates and develops the framework in which the team can effectively cooperate in innovation projects, change projects and other marketing-, sourcing- and sales-relevant regulatory and safety support.
Represents the company in front of authorities and external business stakeholders in regulatory and product safety matters. Cooperates in trading associations and in relevant regulatory work groups and associations to shape the regulatory environment in line with the business' needs.
Supports the organization in product safety-related questions and complaints with regard to customers '/consumers '/ official bodies ' enquiries and for business and market needs.

Key Competencies
University degree in chemical, technical, pharmaceutical or life science studies
Minimum 10+ years of recent relevant work experience (e.g. regulatory, product safety)
Minimum 10+ years leadership experience
Focused, solution- and result-driven
Excellent communication skills with different internal and external stakeholders
Ability and willingness to balance work style between high level and detailed level
Situational leadership skills
Fluent English; Swedish advantageous
