Primary
Primary is a production union within SMT:s Tube division. The unit supplies the division and Sweden's second largest industrial area with raw material for production of advanced products within for example tubes, bars and strips.
The unit employs about 600 people and is a vital part of the business. As our largest production unit the organization contains many operations; procurement of raw material, steel mill, hot rolling, forging, finishing mill and rock drill steel manufacturing as well as support functions as quality, HR, finance, logistics & IT, maintenance and EHS.
Mission
As manager for Primary you put safety on top of the agenda in all areas, lead the development and have the accountability for the results of the organization. Through your management team you are responsible for delivery precision and quality to our customers, as well as short- and long-term development of machinery and equipment in regard to safety, productivity and availability. Additionally, you are responsible for all operations being carried out according to our quality, environment and energy-system. As responsible for purchasing of raw materials and supplies an important component is the work to optimize the value chain from raw material to finished product. Furthermore, you are in active dialogue with customers, external as well as internal, in order to develop efficiency throughout the entire value chain. Close collaboration with R&D is another key in developing processes and products. Also, ensuring sustainability and low climate impact from our processes is very important.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with at least a bachelor's or master's degree within engineering. Alternatively, you have gained equivalent knowledge through working experience within the process industry. Knowledge within metallurgical processes is extra advantageous.
Several years of experience of leadership and management of a larger organization within the process industry is a requirement. Also, you have a proven track record of delivering successful results in an operative environment. Experience of profit & loss-responsibility is advantageous. Additionally, you have the ability to lead an organization that spans over several functions. In short; you are a general manager with knowledge and interest that spans over technology, leadership and business.

You are a leader with the ability to motivate and engage, and we value your commitment to translate ideas to implemented solutions. Your people management reflects Sandvik's leadership model, and you have a drive to improve processes and ways of working. In order to do so you listen and communicate clearly and give feedback. As a strong leader you give your staff freedom to act while simultaneously supporting the development of the individual and teams in order reach individual and shared goals. Like us you have an open mind and work actively to create a workplace of diversity and inclusion. Fluent English is a requirement and Swedish is advantageous. The location of the position is in Sandviken.

As the main supplier of raw material and products to the Tube division and external customers Primary is a vital part of the value chain. The role involves integration over all functions and at all levels, as the position is key for other production units, sales & marketing, R&D, and is a member of the management team for the Tube division's EMEA unit.
