hela Sverige Avalanche Studios Group and its creative division Avalanche Studios are looking for several Gameplay systems programmers to join our team in Stockholm, to work on the largest and greatest live multiplayer AAA project we've ever taken on!
The Position
As a Gameplay systems programmer, you will be working on the backbone of our project: the data architecture that drives everything from weapon damage to mission scripting to AI to vehicle behavior to leaderboards. The presence of your work will be apparent in every moment of gameplay.
You will work with various different parts of our proprietary Apex open world engine, collaborating closely with other programmers across many different disciplines on several different teams, to develop and maintain the systems our designers use to create missions, build complex gameplay mechanics, populate UI screens, and tweak and balance the game in a live online multiplayer environment. You will also participate in implementing the pipeline for securely delivering content updates to players from the cloud, and building internal tools to remedy customer service requests from players.
You should be adept at building, maintaining, and explaining complex systems that are understandable by other programmers and easy for designers and artists to work with. We're looking for someone who can think beyond the quick hack and the easy fix, with a knack for making gameplay systems fit together in practical ways that strike a balance between elegance and flexibility.
Required Qualifications
Excellent working knowledge of C++
Excellent working knowledge of debugging techniques
Experience with the design and implementation of the data architecture of a large software project with multiple programmers
Solid working knowledge of client-server network programming, especially in regards to concurrency and performance issues
Strong communication skills - must possess excellent English verbal and written communication skills
The ability and desire to work in a team, often with different disciplines, and explain your work clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Desired Qualifications
Server backend experience, especially for systems with a high number of concurrent users
Experience with writing network code for a live-service multiplayer game
Experience with Microsoft Azure PlayFab
Experience implementing data architecture for game engines

We provide goals, instead of instructions, and the opportunity to do the best work of your career.
