Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values - customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste - are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Role Summary
Do you want to join the lead in technology development, be part of a world class company and join the internal combustion engine development where changes really do have an impact? Then this opportunity is for you.
Even with new technologies, like electrification, around the corner, the bigger part of the Scania fleet still rely on internal combustion engines so every improvement to fuel consumption and emissions really do matter. With this assignment, you will have the possibility to really make a difference. If you succeed, we succeed so let's take the next step towards the future together!

Job Responsibilities
You will be part of an agile team within variable valve control where you and your supporting colleagues are the experts. Your work will span over the full development process from requirements, concept development and implementation to testing, documentation and verification. As part of the global organization of engine control system in the Traton group you will often work in cross-functional teams who delivers to international customers both within and outside Scania.

Who You Are
In order to be successful in this position, we believe you are a responsible and open minded team player who takes on new challenges with curiosity and engagement. You find it easy to communicate in English both verbally, and in writing. You enjoy a mix of practical testing and analytic work. Creativity, problem solving and critical thinking is highly valued as we often discuss the challenges to find solutions together. You are part of contributing to the team deliveries.
You probably have a background working within control system as a software developer, tester, or function owner; and you are now looking forward to expanding your knowledge and responsibilities within an international organization.
You have a B.Sc. or M.Sc in the fields of embedded systems, mechatronics, physics or relevant work experience. However, your attitude, mindset, and personality are of equal importance.
It is extra merit if you have experience with agile methodologies and have had a role, like Scrum master, leading work in an agile environment.

This Is Us
In the Engine Control Systems department we are responsible of the development of control systems for combustion engines for various powertrains in the Traton group. An intensive technical development is ongoing to bring our already world leading engine platform to the next level in our sustainable transport solutions. We, Engine variable valve control, are an agile team consisting of individuals from different parts of the world with different backgrounds and experiences. For us diversity, inclusion and having fun together is highly important.
A crucial part of the ongoing technology shift happens in the gas exchange system, were we have our biggest responsibility. By controlling gas flow with the engine internal valves, we can achieve both improved fuel efficiency and an even better experience for the driver. The gas exchange system is central in the next generation of the world's leading engine for heavy vehicles.
We stay ahead by exploring new technologies like artificial neural networks and state of the art control theories in our embedded product. Innovation is key to stay ahead of the competition and we prosper in a work environment where flexibility goes hand in hand with responsibility.
In the team we own and drive our own changes from idea to final implementation. This includes driving development of new or improved functions. We implement our own changes in the control unit, plan and carry out test and calibration in engine test cells and vehicles. We follow up and act on deviations from tests, fleets and customers.
We have a supportive mindset in the team where we help each other, discuss, review and code with colleagues in the group.
