We are now looking for Engineers being able to do function-based software development, implementation, verification and calibration focusing on the future drive trains, both light and heavy duty. We think you have worked for 3-8 years in relevant areas and now are ready for the next step in your career. As a function Developer/Calibration Engineer at AVL you will cooperate with our experts and our customers developing the future drivetrains, including Battery Electric Vehicles, Hybrid Electric Vehicles and Automated Transmissions. In the development work, characteristics as hybrid control strategy, performance, shift lines, response, jerks, pedal map needs to be handled while also considering emissions and fuel consumption when a combustion engine is involved.
We see that you have a great interest in vehicles and a genuine interest in how the propulsion feels for the driver in terms of transmission, engine and electrification. Both theoretical and practical experience in those areas is desired.
We are working in projects at our own facilities and at our customers. It's important that you are open for and interested in working at our customers as consultant being a good representative for AVL being responsive and enjoying new challenges. We see that you have good social skills and always strives to deliver your uttermost. You should also have the ability to drive your task forward and communicate without any problems in English and preferably also in Swedish. We also expect you to have driver's license valid for passenger car in Sweden (truck driver's license is a merit). It's a strong merit already having experience from automotive companies within the Gothenburg area.
Your responsibilities:
Lead and participate in drivetrain function development and calibration projects for different types of transmissions, hybrids and electromobility solutions, both for light and heavy-duty vehicles.
Function development and calibration will typically include hybrid operating strategy, shift strategy, shift quality, engine parameters (i.e. response, tip in/out, pedal map, transients) also considering the effect on emissions and fuel consumption.
Contribute with methodology development both internal AVL and at customer, e.g. further develop customer SW, aid in further development of AVL calibration, simulation and drivability tools (Cameo, Cruise, Drive, etc.) as well as refining in-house tools developed in e.g. MATLAB/Simulink
Troubleshoot existing software with detailed root cause analysis through tests, calculations or other means available
Stay up-to-date with most recent technology findings within the field of transmission, hybrid and electric drivetrain technology
Your profile:
Master's degree within Power Electronic, Physics, Mechatronic, Mechanical or equivalent.
Excellent analytical capability
Excellent knowledge in function-based SW development (MATLAB/Simulink).
EU Driver's license B is required. E and/or C is meritorious
Experience and high interest in car and/or truck driving/drivability.
Experience from product development of BEV, Hybrids and transmissions for light- or heavy-duty.
Knowledge in commercially available calibration/measurement tools (INCA, CANape, ATI Vision, CANalyzer, etc.) is an advantage
Knowledge in hybrid systems including HV Battery, Inverters and Electric Machines is an advantage.
Good knowledge of machine elements, including clutches and hydraulic systems
Very good social and communication skills in English. Swedish is meritorious.
