JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service (FPDS) Program Manager, the Embassy of Canada in Stockholm is recruiting a Foreign Policy and Diplomatic Service Assistant. The Assistant arranges for the Counsellor meetings with government officials and other interlocutors. Provides administrative support to the Counsellor and to the FPDS Section, including information management, research support and budget management. Provides translation for the section of official correspondence, media articles and other material from Swedish, and when necessary, into Swedish. Organizes travel for the Counsellor and other FPDS staff. Arranges itineraries for visiting Canadian officials and other representatives at all levels. Responsible for drafting the Counsellor's Swedish-language correspondence.
SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will initially be screened on the essential qualifications below and must demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet these criteria. Only candidates meeting these essential criteria will be considered for further assessment.
Education : Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a major in a discipline related to the job requirements (e.g. political science, administration, communication) or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Language : Fluency in English & Swedish (oral & written)
Experience : Minimum *2 - 3 years of working experience in a government or private sector relevant to the position with experience in international affairs, information management.
Experience in working in an office environment and following standard office procedures, including assisting in keeping track of budgets.
Experience in managing, tracking, responding to and reporting on enquiries received from clients related to the delivery of programs and services.
Minimum*must have been within the last 5 years.
RATED QUALIFICATIONS:

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following assets:
• Previous experience working in a Government or public sector environment
• Experience in finance or accounting
• Fluency in French (oral & written)
• Required to work occasional overtime - at weekends or after normal working hours
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Maintain ability to reside and work in Sweden.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening.
