We want to operate the most effective and efficient manning model out there, to be able to provide both the safety as well as the excellent service our customers deserve. And this is where you come in!

What will you do?
As Fleet Manning Director you will team up with the Head of Network and Fleet as well as the Technical Operations Director to determine and adjust our vessel flag strategy. This is linked to unions, vessel ownership and taxation, so you will have to navigate these challenges with other senior management in Stena Line and Stena AB. As strategically responsible for how we work with manning of our vessel, you will be a competent, proactive resource supporting the Company to reach the business strategy. It is your mission to ensure we operate safely and in line with our customer service promise. To begin with, you will have one direct-report.

Some of your key responsibilities:

• Responsible for the effective recruitment, development and retention strategy for our onboard employees. Making recommendations on pay structures and benefits changes
• Set annual objectives for the manning teams in line with the Strategic Objectives of both Stena Line Group and the People and Communication team
• Safeguard the annual recruitment needs from a Group perspective for Stena Line to ensure delivery of our product during high season
• Overall responsible through the manning teams that all seafarers are appointed in accordance with STCW qualifications and that the vessel is always manned as per the vessel matrix
• Assist in the completion of annual manning budgets
• In partnership with the Head of Industrial Relations manage all union activities pertaining to Seafarers
• In cooperation with the regional People Teams ensure that all disciplinary, performance and terminations are dealt with in accordance to legislation and company policy
• Strategic oversight of the training function, producing recommendations for training and development programs in support of employees within the managed fleet, ensuring that the proper structure, programs and processes are in place to develop crew members and ratings in line with Group standards and objectives. Ensure that all manning functions work within the parameters of any offshore employment models

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating in a fully unionized environment and excellent communication skills, being able to navigate even in the toughest waters. Financial aspects such as creating and managing budgets and cost analysis doesn't scare you and you like solving puzzles - even the once with 5000 pieces (in this case people across multi-locations). As a leader you are clear, concise and know how to motivate and inspire a team.

The must-have's:

• Experienced in Manpower management, 8-10 years within the crewing industry at a senior level is preferred
• Documented leadership experience
• Professional qualifications, degree or equivalent
• Excellent written and oral English, a second European language would be an advantage
