The Regional Representation for Northern Europe, RRNE, is responsible for eight countries: Denmark Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden.
RRNE establishes and manages external relations activities in the Baltic and Nordic countries to protect, assist and find durable solutions for all persons of concern.
Areas of responsibility are:
• Liaise with external partners and local organizations on behalf of UNHCR.
• Produce reports and briefings for internal and external partners.
• Ensure that the office is kept informed of local developments which may have a political or operational impact on the office's activities
• Compile information and SitReps received from other sections within the office and consolidate into reports
• Advice the Head of Office of local aspects of external relations policies
• Provide background briefings
• Provide daily briefings on local developments to the Head of Office and ensure that briefing material from other offices are available
• Establish contacts with local organisations to promote general interest and understanding of refugee issues
• Keep track of evolving issues concerning persons of concern to be able to suggest stories and topics for the media to cover
• Accompany visits of foreign delegations and the media to refugee sites in the region, giving appropriate briefings, commentaries and prepare briefing material for visitors
• Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications and Professional experience:
Completion of Secondary education with certificate/training in Political or social Sciences, International Relations, Journalism, Communications or other related fields. Minimum 6 years of relevant experience. (The number of years of university education may be considered equal to the same number or years of work experience) Fluency in English and working knowledge of local languages. Excellent English drafting skills essential.
Salary:
Approximately tax free monthly salary SEK 22 500 to 26 000.
Duty Station: Stockholm, SWEDEN
