Group Customs and Cargo Risk Management, within GTO Logistic Services has the responsibility to manage Customs and Cargo Risk Management activities globally for the whole Volvo Group, i.e. for all material into factories and distribution centres as well as complete products and parts to dealers and end customers.
Main responsibilities for Group Customs & Cargo Risk Management organization is to:
• Ascertain the Group' s adherence to rules, regulations, laws and Group policies related to Export Control
• Ascertain the Group's adherence to rules, regulations, laws and Group policies related to Customs
• Secure Insurance coverage and efficient routines to minimize loss for all goods in transit within Volvo Group
• Balance risks and optimize the processes in order to reach highest efficiency at lowest total cost
Purpose of the position
We are building a new global Export Control organization with the purpose to secure Volvo Group adherence to Export Control regulations. One key player, for this new organization, is the Software and Embedded Systems Specialist who will bring valuable knowledge from a critical area of competence to our Export Control team.
Key Responsibilities
This is a role covering the entire Volvo Group with a main responsibility to secure that the export of Volvo Group Embedded products comply with the Export control regulations; spanning from high level compliance requirements to specific technical evaluations and issues in the supply chain. The role also includes process work to implement export control check points within the sales, aftermarket, production, logistics and development processes (DVP, MAS, PRD and DCL). This position will challenge your ability to transform rules and regulations into practical business processes and solutions.
Here's what you can anticipate as the Export Control Software and Embedded Systems Specialist:
• Function as a center of expertize for Export Control with focus on Software and Embedded Systems
• Coordinate and support in classification of Software and Embedded Systems from a technical perspective (Dual-Use, US content or other special needs) i.e. active components interacting with the vehicle Electrical and Electronic (EE) architecture
• Develop strategies to secure export control compliance through electronic transfer (intangible export) out from the Volvo Group
• Participate in identification of current and potential risks regarding Export Control with focus on Embedded Systems
• Establish cross-functional work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with export regulations. Strong interaction with various functions within the Volvo Group such as Legal Departments, Sales divisions, Technology departments and Operations
• Interaction with all sites globally
• Together with the rest of the team; Manage prerequisites towards the global processes, routines and tools to secure an efficient export control program
• Train and inform on export control rules within Volvo Group
• Act as liaison and communicate as required with various governmental agencies.

Qualifications / Key Competencies

• Good understanding of Volvo Group Processes

• Excellent communication skills
• Fluent in English
• Knowledge of European and American export control regulations* as well as classification standards special focus on encryption and cyber security (is a merit)
• Experience from work related to Regulatory Compliance work (is a merit)
• Good understanding of the Volvo Group businesses
Minimum Education and Experience
• University degree
• Experience of cross-functional leadership
