The Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique opens new opportunities for concepts of hot gas turbine components. Do you want to be a part of developing the next generation of AM concepts and bring them into the fleet?
Siemens has over the last years invested in state-of-the-art Additive Manufacturing (AM) workshops in Finspång, Sweden and in Worcester, UK.
The AM technique enables brand new ways to design components with improved functionality and shortened lead time. This requires new engineering skills for design and simulation of parts, and new methods are being developed in several areas like concept generation, heat transfer, lifing and materials. The topic of improved cooling of components in the hot gas path of a gas turbine is in focus, which has a high leverage on gas turbine cycle efficiency and fuel flexibility.
Siemens has launched dedicated AM Design Teams in order to boost creativity and assure rapid implementation of the new technologies into the products.
The challenge
* To put your most creative mindset into the projects and generate concepts to be brought all the way from idea to product implementation
* To work in AM design projects for both new components and repair of components
* To collaborate within Siemens global AM community
* Research about AM-enabled cooling features and work in method development
* To perform detail heat transfer calculations, where cooling air consumption and metal temperature are the main outcome.
* To participate in prototype tests and evaluations to validate the numerical calculations.
Who are you?
* Good communication skills and good at taking own initiatives
* An innovative and solution-oriented mindset
* You enjoy being part of a diverse multicultural team
* Master of Science or PhD focused on heat transfer and/or fluid dynamics or similar
* Experience from working with advanced numerical analysis such as CFD, FEM etc. preferably with focus on heat transfer
* Experience from fluid dynamic and/or heat transfer test rigs and analysis is a merit
* Open to closely collaborate with colleagues from different sites, divisions, disciplines and components, including some travels per year.
