Under the general supervision of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service (FPDS) Program Manager, the Embassy of Canada in Stockholm is recruiting a temporary Foreign Policy and Diplomatic Service Assistant. The Assistant arranges for the Program Manager's meetings with government officials and other interlocutors, provides administrative support to the Program Manager and to the FPDS Section, including information management, research support and budget support; provides translation support for social media and some correspondence, mostly English/French, with some ability in Swedish to follow content and provide administrative support as required; organizes travel for program staff, arranges itineraries for visiting Canadian officials and other representatives at all levels.
This competition is only open to candidates who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose application is received by the closing date. Candidates must be eligible to work in Stockholm.

Essential Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a major in a discipline related to the job requirements (e.g. political science, administration, communication) or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Equivalent' meaning a combined minimum of three years' post-College degree experience.
Language:
Fluency in English & French (oral & written);
Intermediate Swedish (oral &written).
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of recent* combined experience in client service delivery and providing administrative services, including combination of managing appointments, providing event and logistical support, record-keeping and information management, budget and/or accounting support.
Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
Knowledge of administrative standard office procedures and practices.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:
Working experience in a government or private sector relevant to the position with experience in international affairs, information management;
Experience in finance or accounting.
If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Eligible to reside and work in Sweden.
Eligible to obtain and maintain a Reliability status.

The results of this competition may also be used to establish an eligibility list of staff for similar openings at the Embassy of Canada in Stockholm which might arise in the 12 months following the completion of this competition.
Varaktighet, arbetstid
Term: August 2017 through March 2018. Normal work week 37.5 hours (Full time). Required to work occasional overtime - on weekends and after normal working hours.
