hela Sverige The Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business has seen strong development in research into resource recovery in recent years. Today, our research and teaching environment comprises seven professors, 20 to 25 doctoral students and around 25 senior lecturers, researchers and post doctoral positions. Teaching is at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to which our third-cycle education is also linked. We anticipate examining eight doctoral students in 2015
We have access to modern, well-equipped teaching and research laboratories. Research within resource recovery takes place primarily in energy, industrial bioengineering, polymer engineering, modelling, systems analysis and construction engineering. We have a large national and international network and well-established collaborations with trade, industry and public sector operators. We are currently looking for a doctoral student in resource recovery with a specialisation in combustion and ash recovery.
Job Description
The research project covers material flows connected to waste management and will be run in close collaboration with Borås Energi and Miljö AB. The goal is to find cost-effective methods of extracting valuable substances from combustion - primarily phosphorus - and to adapt the fuel to obtain an ash with a high concentration of, and accessibility to, the substance. The doctoral student must dedicate at least 80% of his or her time to research and thesis work. The remaining 20% involves participation in departmental duties comprising teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the relevant courses, the supervision of degree projects, participation in external projects and assignments and/or administration.
Doctoral students are employed under Chapter 5 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance. The programme is equivalent to a maximum of four years' full-time study. The initial employment period is for one year and usually renewed in one-year increments. If departmental duties are included, the research programme will be extended to a maximum of five years.
Qualifications
Admission to the research programme in resource recovery requires a master's degree in engineering/natural science or a degree in engineering with documented experience in thermodynamics, inorganic chemistry and combustion engineering. You must be able to communicate fluently in both spoken and written English corresponding to at least Swedish upper secondary level.
Laboratory experience and a good command of Swedish are useful merits.
