Diagnostic Calibration Engineer

The diagnostic teams in the department Complete Powertrain are involved early in the development of new powertrain concepts. It is a large challenge to develop solutions which both meet legal requirements and have maximum robustness not causing customer disturbances. The teams are responsible for development of system solutions, functional design and verification in full-scale test cars. We realise our ideas through the development of functionality software in a number of embedded control systems. When necessary, we arrange expeditions to various places in the world to test our hypotheses in different environments e.g. warm/cold climate combined with altitudes from sea level to high altitude roads in the Alps.

As a Diagnostic Calibration Engineer, you will work in the Diagnostic group responsible for functional development and calibration of OBD monitors, examples are; air charge system or hybrid vehicle cooling system. The group is also responsible for development and calibration of the diagnostic kernel. You will work in one of the sub-teams of 5-8 people (see examples above). The diagnostic team is responsible for designing, optimising and validating diagnostic functions for all Powertrain units to fulfil OBD and workshop requirements worldwide. We ensure that the customer/driver as far as possible get correct and nothing else but necessary Powertrain diagnostic information.

We are looking to strengthen our team with an additional Diagnostic Calibration Engineer who will work in one of our projects during industrialisation phases. Either you have earlier experiences, maybe you already are an expert within the area of diagnostic monitoring including function development, or you have recently graduated and feel that you have the passion for complex control systems, and want to further develop in the area.

Main responsibilities

• Functional design, calibration and verification of powertrain diagnostic systems
• Planning the development of the functional design and calibration process
• Develop methods for the functional design and calibration process
• Analysis and development of requirements for diagnostic monitoring software
• Liaison with internal and external suppliers
• Evaluation and problem analysis

Required qualifications

• University degree in Mechatronic, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Capability to understand complex systems and functions
• Experience in use of commercial simulation tools, such as Matlab/Simulink
• Drivers License (B-level)
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Work experience within the automotive industry is meritorious
• Work experience in electronic diagnostic systems and system specifications is meritorious
• Experience of embedded control systems and engine control systems are meritorious
• Skills in designing software algorithms is an asset
