The department Control Systems is responsible for the development of Powertrain Control Systems for the Volvo Group products. We are organized within the department of Product Development Gothenburg, and our responsibility is to deliver in house developed electronic Control Systems for both diesel engines and gearboxes. At Control Systems we are responsible for the development of both hardware such as harness, sensors and control units as well as for the software, including strategies for emissions, diagnostics and drivability.
The diagnostic functions group is one of eleven groups at the Controls Systems department in Gothenburg and is responsible for development of powertrain diagnostic functions with high focus on On Board Diagnostic (legislated emission related diagnostic). We are working with engine projects related to different applications, for examples trucks, buses and construction equipment, and we are responsible for developing diagnostic functionality for both On Board and Off Board functionality. We are in an interesting development phase where we work with both new technical areas and new challenging OBD requirements for both the North American and European markets.
We are now in a position where we are looking for an On Board Diagnostic software developer with passion for diagnostic, vehicles and software. You will be a part of the responsibility for the development of our new diagnostic platform.
Main Responsibilities:
Design diagnostic monitors based on both legal requirements and internal Volvo requirements
Develop software for diagnostic related functionality
Implement new functionality into main software
Test and verify the functionality in computer simulation environment
Perform diagnostic calibration work in both test cell and vehicle
Verify complete On Board Diagnostic system in both test cell and vehicle
Continuously work with development of methods for the software development.
Required skills and experiences:
University degree or similar with good knowledge in combustion engines and software engineering
An advantage but not necessary is to have relevant experiences from vehicle industry in similar area with knowledge in software development for embedded systems.
A genuine interest and drive to create and improve future technical solutions
Good knowledge in On Board Diagnostic
Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written
The work requires skills in both teamwork and individual work.
Structure and highly organised
Commercial driving licence is a benefit
