The main responsibility for R&D is to contribute to the innovation process, comprising application, product and process development, within the Perstorp Group and also to support business in all types of customer relations. The Application Development department has now opportunities for an experienced Development Chemist focusing especially on polymer technology and thermoplastic applications.
It is an exciting time with many interesting and challenging projects in the pipeline. Application Development is responsible for application development from the initial synthesis work needed up to a tested and verified product in the relevant application area. Within the material field Perstorp develops several innovative polymer products and our focused areas are e.g. plasticizers, biodegradable plastics and polyurethane elastomers.
As a Development Chemist in the Application development group you will contribute in research and development activities of our future applications, products and processes. Your main assignments will be
• To plan and perform development tasks based on set business criteria in the laboratory such as polymer formulation, synthesis, polymer processing, product testing and application verification
• To manage extended tasks and defined development project activities when applicable
• To support in preparation of technical marketing and promotion material for market development when feasible
• To participate in and support the technological development in the department.
The position requires that you have a positive and curious attitude to new challenges, good strategic and independent thinking as well as coordination ability. What we expect from you is an open-minded attitude and a collaborative way of working striving for knowledge sharing with your colleagues. Goal orientation is vital and communication and networking skills are keys for success.
We believe you have a technical education corresponding to at least a Master of Science or equivalent with good chemical knowledge. The successful applicant has preferably several years of documented experience in relevant areas from industrial R&D work. Knowledge in PVC plasticizer applications and polymer formulation and processing technology is highly appreciated. R&D is a project-oriented organization and familiarity to project driven work is acknowledged. Spoken and written English is required.
