hela Sverige The Science Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Detector Scientist position placed in Linköping.
Description of directorate/division/group
The Detector group is part of the Neutron Technology Division under the Science Directorate. The Neutron Technology Division provides the technological tools required for the design, construction and operation of the neutron instruments at the ESS. The detector group is currently focused on performing the necessary research and development for alternatives to He-3 detectors for neutron detection.
Description of main responsibilities
The successful candidate's responsibilities include performing project and line responsibilities as well as the below written tasks:
• Development of coatings for ESS detectors
• Development of potential future materials for ESS detectors
• Involvement in setting up a large scale coating production facility
• Providing collaborators with requested coating material
• Contact to Linköping University
• Supervision of PhD and master student at the university
• Creation and promotion of external in-kind/scientific collaborations
• Continuous contact and collaboration with selected suppliers and partners
Qualifications
• Bachelors/Master in Mechanic Engineering, Applied Physics, Material Science or similar.
• Experience as engineer/scientist, preferably in detector simulations and experimental data analysis.
• Good programming and computing skills.
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Duration & Location
The position is 50 % part time and limited employment of 12 months. Your work place will be situated in Linköping, Sweden.
