Design Engineer/Task Leader - Wheel Suspension, 2 positions

The group Front Suspension is responsible for the development and maintenance of front wheel suspensions. We are part of Active Safety and Chassis within Volvo Car's Research and Development division. Our mission is to develop wheel suspensions that enable premium level ride comfort, handling and road noise isolation. Kinematic packaging, durability and cost/weight efficiency are some of the challenges we face. We co-operate with a wide range of internal partners, such as vehicle dynamics, NVH, durability, manufacturing engineering and others. Our supplier base is worldwide, from local Swedish to Chinese.

We are know looking for a Design Engineer /Task Leader for front wheel suspension parts. You will be responsible for management of technique, timing and cost. You work in close co-operation with the front suspension team, our project leaders (SPL), Manufacturing Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability and our suppliers.

Main responsibilities

• In co-operation with suppliers develop technical solutions and documentation that describe the systems and components
• Lead and coordinate the development work with internal partners and suppliers, securing project deliveries in accordance with the time, technique and cost (TTC) contract
• Initiate and assure that corrective actions are carried out when deviations occurs
• Report prognosis, status and forecast for the project to SPL (Program Manager) and line organization
• Ordering of development work, test objects and tooling
• Develop technical strategies and solutions as well as optimized work methods for future demands

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field of engineering
• Experience from chassis and wheel suspension systems and specific shock absorbers is meritorious
• Experience as a design engineer /task leader (KU) is meritorious
• 6-sigma Blue Belt or Black Belt certification will be an asset
