Design Engineer - CAD

The Fuel section is one of the development departments within Powertrain Installation and is responsible for the development of the fuel and EVAP system. The section consists of approximately 60 employees in four groups. The EVAP-system & fuel lines group has 9 women and 10 men developing Fuel Evaporation emission systems and Fuel lines systems. The EVAP system prevents fuel fumes being emitted into the atmosphere and the lines are used to distribute fuel and EVAP gases.

As an Design Engineer - CAD for the EVAP system and fuel lines, you will work with packaging, installation and design of fuel lines, valves, sensors, canisters, brackets and fasteners. You will ensure functionality and features such as pressure drop, NVH, strength, corrosion, impact safety, thermodynamics, ground clearance, manufacturability and serviceability. Complex geometries in the engine compartment and the back of the vehicle are a part of our everyday lives including a wide network of contacts both within our company and towards our suppliers.

Main responsibilities

• Develop a strategy and structure for how to run projects within the Talent Management
• Prompt installation issues in packing meeting
• Create 3D geometries in Catia V5, and associated 2D drawings
• Prepare a production friendly and cost effective solution together with the suppliers
• Ensure properties such as, temperature and strength are kept together with the product manager
• Perform design work in the area EVAP system and fuel lines for petrol and diesel
• Develop new packing geometries in new projects or when problems are detected
• Influence future development strategies and participate in the development team

Required qualifications

• University degree at least BSc or equivalent experience
• Experienced user of Catia V5
• At least 4 years of design experience in polymers, metal or rubber materials
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Driving license at least B
• Experience of tooling for injection moulding is meritorious
• Experience of Volvo systems KDP, VPDS and TCE is meritorious
• Design experience of fuel systems is meritorious
• Design For Six Sigma is meritorious
