The department Vehicle and Systems Testing is a part of R&D and our main purpose is to operate and develop the departments test beds and provide the test equipment in accordance with R&D's needs. This position is within the group Test preparation & Methodology with the task to prepare and automate test processes within the department, quality assurance of data, test method development, correlation activities, and support to engine test bed engineers.
As a Data Analysis Engineer you will be responsible for developing the methods for data analysis and the focus is on project management rather than scripting on a daily basis. The purpose of the role is to go from idea to implementation and then maintenance. The challenge is to develop methods and tools to support analysis of the increasing amount of data ('Data mining', 'Big data'), and to contribute to Volvo Car Groups increased capability to transform data to knowledge. We are looking for a committed and analytical engineer with the ability to identify and develop analysis methods and processes and implement these into code.
Main responsibilities
• Lead the development of data analysis methods for Vehicle and Systems Testing within:
• 1. Test bed performance and utilisation modelling and prediction
• 2. Data management, infrastructure, storage and metadata
• 3. Data quality assurance on-line during measurement and after completion of sampling
• 4. Data synchronisation and merging to deliverable format
• Initiate and participate in R&D activities within the area
• Initiate and develop contacts with research institutes, universities and automotive associations
• Writing beautiful code and implementing fantastic solutions
• Co-operation with test data customers regarding analysis contents
Required qualifications
• M.Sc or equivalent education, preferably Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics or similar
• At least 5' years of experience in the functional area
• Experience from data analysis processes, methods and tools
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Experience from project management and leading a team is meritorious
• Programming skills in Sympathy for Data, Python, Matlab is meritorious
• Good understanding in various database technologies is meritorious
