The department Control Systems is organized within the product development organization of global trucks technology in Gothenburg. We work developing and designing electronic control systems for Volvo's heavy and medium duty diesel engines and transmissions. Our customers are the different brands within Volvo group.

Our specific responsibility is to develop control systems for driveline management which includes engines, transmission and exhaust after treatment. This includes development of electronics and software as well as calibration for different applications. It is a rapidly growing area within product development.

Position Summary
The Controls System Engineer performs and leads engineering activities in order to specify, design and analyse alternative controls system solutions according to system requirements and specifies suitable verification methods. The delivered solutions must meet system requirements from on-going and future projects and consider all constraints and strategies within Control System Engineering. Hence, the system solutions must be developed in close cooperation with experts from different competence areas within Control Systems (e.g. SW engineers, component owners within application SW, platform SW, ECU HW, sensors, actuators, harness) as well as cooperate with competence areas outside our organization, such as Quality, Aftermarket or Production.

Controls System Engineers take part and represent Controls in the System Engineering Community on component level, contributing to a complete system solution while ensuring commonality and long-term aspects of the systems solutions in her/his function/feature area, bringing the requirements and technical solution from the system level into the Control System component development, working as a bridge between the Global System Responsible, SW and HW development and the Product owner.

• Structured, analytical and holistic mind-set
• Know about Electronic architecture
• Good knowledge in System Engineering, quality assurance methods and documentation
• Ability to plan and explain on which verification target the complete system must be verified
• Your education is at B.Sc. level or similar
• You are confident working in global teams and you are fluent in English, written and spoken
• Control Systems development experience and general powertrain/vehicle knowledge
