Opera Software seeks a Content Acquisition Manager to join our TV & Devices team to sign strategic partnerships with broadcasters.
Opera crafts products and services that connect 350 million people to internet content on any screen. In addition, our advertising platform enables publishers to monetize their content and allows brands to reach a global audience of more than 800 million consumers.
As more TVs in the living room get connected, there is an increased availability of video content delivered as TV apps on these devices. Opera has established our products as the market leader in the connected-TV industry, with our HTML 5 SDK and TV app platform embedded on tens of millions of new connected TV devices each year, from leading manufacturers and operators. In addition, our breakthrough tools, such as Opera TV Snap, have lowered the barrier to entry for content owners, who can now launch TV apps to millions of viewers, in less than a minute, at no cost.
Broadcasters around the world are adjusting to the fact that consumer's video consumption behavior is rapidly changing, and thereby have invested in the creation of OTT apps and syndicated video for distribution of their content on all screens and various online video platforms. On the back of a portfolio of existing and upcoming consumer-facing products from Opera on any screen, the Content Acquisition Manager for Broadcasters will capitalize on this trend and help broadcasters increase their audience reach.
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute a plan to forge strategic relationships with European broadcasters to bring them increased multi-screen audience reach for their video content.
• Negotiate and close partnership agreements with European broadcasters to gain access to their OTT Apps (e.g., Catch-up and Live content) for connected TV and distribute their syndicated video content through Opera's consumer-facing products.
• Play a leading role in representing the company's broadcaster strategy in Europe, with a proactive, dynamic and customer-centric approach.
• Participate in trade shows, partner seminars and networking forums in Europe, with the possibility of sometimes presenting to large audiences.
• Manage key relationships with the needed technology-partner ecosystem around broadcasters app development and distribution.
• Coordinate with Opera's Product Management, Content Acquisition, Sales, Marketing and Engineering teams to fulfill BU goals.
Requirements
• At least 8-10 years of relevant experience, with availability to travel extensively within the region
• Excellent track record in sales and business development, with experience in negotiating deals for a global organization
• Previous experience selling to the Media and Entertainment vertical in Europe is essential (broadcasters and studios)
• Enthusiasm, communication skills and business acumen
• First-class interpersonal, communication and leadership skills at all levels within an organization, across all departments and professional disciplines
Ideal job requirements
• Established professional networks in premium video distribution
• Understanding of web technologies, cross-platform application development and app storefronts
