• Be part of the development within the chassis control area (steering, braking, suspension) which defines the next generation chassis control systems for conventional and self-driving vehicles.
• Define functional requirements, evaluate concepts and work closely with the team and with suppliers to identify and implement the optimal chassis control solution.
• Work in close collaboration with engineers who have development experience of mechanical and electrical vehicle motion components such as steering, braking and electric propulsion systems.
• Contribute with the system and functional development and be a key player in balancing programme requirements (performance, functional safety, quality and cost).
• Support the development of HaRa and functional safety cases in accordance with ISO 26262 and the breakdown of safety goals to safety concepts and technical safety requirements.
• Lead and develop workflows and processes for Chassis Control Systems.
• Develop and document user requirements and design efficient and simple solutions.
• Develop proposals to optimise development methods and document change points for relevant vehicle control systems and software.
• Lead project management activities including task, resource planning, scheduling, status tracking and reporting.
• Work closely with the SW developer and vehicle and sub-system test engineers.
Required Expertise:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD).
• At least 5 years of experience as a system engineer in the field of vehicle motion control, with at least 3 years related experience in chassis system control.
• Excellent knowledge of ISO 26262 and experience of working with components and systems that meet ASIL D is preferred.
• Experience in defining functional system safety concepts and architecture, and requirements for ECUs, sensors and actuators.
• Good knowledge of ISO 21434 and Cyber Security requirements is advantageous.
• Good knowledge of dynamic control algorithm systems and use of Matlab / Simulink or similar.
• Good knowledge of ISO 14229 standard and UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) and Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
• Knowledge of Autosar, C and C++.
• Knowledge of SW architecture, vehicle control systems specifically related to vehicle dynamics and ADAS.
• Experience of working with CAN, CANFD and/or Flexray.
• Knowledge of implementing solutions relating to EMC.
• Strong knowledge of project lifecycle, requirements gathering/management, change management, gap analysis, process modelling and data flow diagrams etc.
• Fluent English skills, both spoken and written.
• Vehicle driving license.
