You'll be part of Data Sciences & Quantitative Biology - a delivery focused department where we collaborate to support drug projects striving to impact patients' lives. In partnership with our experimentalist colleagues, we provide computational analysis and solutions to enable and improve output from our technical platforms driving our drug discovery efforts.

What you'll do:

Work closely with various partners across the company as well as AstraZeneca IT on bioinformatics and software development projects
*

Impact, prototype and build analytical pipelines for identifying novel drug targets
*

Develop customized data visualization and analysis tools
*

Build relationships with effective communication between computational biologists and partners across the company
*

Ensure scientific and technical excellence in software, processes, and results

Essential for the role
We believe you are a skilled programmer with a proven track record of delivering analytical solutions for business or academic needs. Your ability to convert details into holistic information by collaborating with colleagues, as well as customers will be of great importance.

We expect you to have:

*

MSc in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or another quantitative degree with strong Computer Science, Software development or Data Science fundamentals
*

Experience with Python (Pandas, Jupyter, Dash) and R (Bioconductor, RMarkdown, Shiny) ecosystems
*

Knowledge of open source bioinformatics tools and algorithms
*

Proficiency in working in a Linux environment, experience with Git, shell scripting and standard command line tools
*

Experience with JavaScript and frontend frameworks (Vue, React, D3)
*

Experience with SQL and NoSQL (Postgres, Elasticsearch, etc)

Desirable for the role

*

Familiarity with tools for reproducible research such as Snakemake
*

Experience with CI/CD, container technologies (Docker/Singularity) and Cloud Computing
