The Department of Health and Rehabilitation at the Institute Neuroscience and Physiology is responsible for education and research in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language pathology, and audiology. The Department strives to conduct its activities at a very high level of quality.
The Unit of Physiotherapy constitutes an active education and research environment with a vision to further develop the physiotherapy of the future. Both education and research are carried out in close collaboration with the healthcare sector. Education is provided at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, and interdisciplinary research is conducted in collaboration with both national and international partners.

Physiotherapy comprises the knowledge and study of a human being in motion and in what way movement, the awareness of body and movement, habits and life pattern affect human health.
Duties
The position as an Assistant Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) comprises research corresponding to at least 50 per cent of full-time employment. Research duties include the formulation and execution of research questions and research designs, the development of theoretical frameworks, data collection and analysis, interpretation of research results, and the publication of peer-reviewed scholarly articles. The position further entails actively applying for external research funding and contributing to the department's research environments, including regular participation in seminars and other scholarly activities.
The appointment also includes teaching duties, encompassing preparation, delivery, and follow-up of teaching at both first-cycle (undergraduate) and second-cycle (master's) levels, where the appointee's professional experience is expected to be integrated into relevant teaching contexts. Teaching at the third-cycle (doctoral) level may also be included. Additional responsibilities comprise course and programme development, course coordination, course administration, and other pedagogical and academic service tasks. Teaching is conducted primarily in Swedish.
If the applicant does not have formal university pedagogical training at the University of Gothenburg, the applicant is expected to have completed university pedagogical training or acquired equivalent knowledge within one year of the employment date.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for employment as an Associate Senior Lecturer are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
A person qualified for appointment as an Associate Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) is a person who has been awarded a PhD in Physiotherapy or has the corresponding research expertise. Primary consideration should be given to a person who has been awarded a PhD or achieved the equivalent expertise within seven years of the deadline for application for employment as an Associate Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor). However, a person who has been awarded a PhD or achieved the equivalent expertise at an earlier date may also be considered if there are exceptional circumstances. Exceptional circumstances are sick leave, parental leave or other similar circumstances. The reasons for the absence, its dates, and its extent must be clearly specified in the application and supported by appropriate documentation.
The ability to teach in Swedish and English is a requirement.
